At first, Ashley worked as bartender for financial support. Since she was young and a fashion lover, her passion for fashion and the entertainment business was evident. When she was 15, she took part in the pageant with full determination. She won both the Miss District of Columbia title in 2011 as well. The following years, she took part in Miss America and even though she didn't win the title of Miss America she won a $500,000 award. She was awarded a scholarship worth $5000 and also got an award called the John Curran Non-Finalist Interview Award.
